Here’s a recap of the best health and fitness articles I’ve read over the past week.

Sworkit

Sworkit is a handy and simple randomized workout generator that you can use on the web or on your phone. You can choose from various workout types, such as stretches, full body, lower, core and so on, and you can even choose the workout length. If you’ve only got 5 minutes, the app can create a workout for you.

How to Break Through a Strength Training Plateau

If your routine is getting stale or if you’ve reached a plateau, here are a whole bunch of things you can change to make your old routine feel new again.

How to Find a Food Co-Op in Your Area and Score Some High-Quality, Super-Cheap Eats

I’m not at all familiar with co-ops, but they sound interesting. There aren’t any close to my home and I have no plans to drive an hour and half to get to the closest one in Boulder, CO, but you might find the information here useful.

How to Get Energized

Learn how to get energy from nutrition instead of those unnatural energy drinks. I think drinking a green juice or smoothie with the foods mentioned here would be a great way to get what your body needs.

Wrist Strengthening Exercises and why you Need Better Grip Strength

Grip strength is extremely important for anyone trying to lift heavy and get big. Here are some great exercises you can add to your routine

Bananas are as beneficial as sports drinks, study suggests

Sports drinks can definitely give you that boos you need during an intense workout, but if you’re not a fan of the typically sugary drinks, eat an all-natural banana instead. I think I’ll take some bananas with me on my next bike ride.

11 Tips For Finding Time to Exercise Even With Kids Or a Baby

I’m not a parent, so I can’t provide advice based on experience, but there are some solid tips in here. Parent or not, I can attest to the benefits of working out early in the morning. It really starts the day off right.

The Tiny Guide to Creating the Flossing Habit

I’m terrible with flossing. I’ve probably flossed less than 20 times in my entire life, but over the last week I’ve decided to try to make it a habit. I’m not doing any of the tips mentioned in this article, but I’m thinking about using the Jerry Seinfeld method, which I also used successfully to quit smoking two years ago.

Why You Should Probably Wear Homemade Deodorant

As soon as my current deoderant stick runs out, I’m making this and filling up my old container. The only thing I worry about is if the temperature gets too warm in my bathroom that it melts the coconut oil, because we don’t have AC in our house. I suppose the cornstarch and baking soda will keep it mostly solid though.

Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower ‘Wings’

I plan to eventually cut gluten out of my diet, at least for the most part, which means no more seitan buffalo wings. I wasn’t too happy about that idea, but now that I see that I can use cauliflower instead, I’m happy again. I hope it tastes good!

When Vegans Get Cancer

Many vegans think that their diet is a path to superior health, but some continue to eat highly processed foods, foods that are fried, fake meats and other frankenfoods. Once those things are removed the diet or at least brought to a minimum, better health can begin, but no matter how healthy you eat, there’s no guarantee that you won’t get sick or contract some type of disease.

Using Google Maps to Find a Workout

I don’t know why I didn’t think to write an article about this a long time ago. I’ve used Google Maps to map out new runs several times. I love it because I can map a run, get a good idea of the distance and I might not even know what the scenery looks like until I get there. It keep things interesting.
