The Final Day of the 2012 Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference

The third and final day at the 2012 Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference has come to a close. It’s sad that it’s over, but wow, did I learn a lot!

I tried to get up early enough to take some pictures of the early morning workouts, but I missed the end of the workout by only about 10 minutes. I woke up a 5:45am and I still didn’t make it to the 7am workouts! Oh well.

We had a delicious and healthy breakfast of granola, berries and almond milk, before jumping right into the presentations.

The first presentation was from Adam Bordes and Ted Vickey, and they spoke on marketing a fitness business. Adam focused on creating and distributing content – written, audio and video, while Ted focused on social media presence and distribution. One of their examples of successful video marketing was about, Shanti, who started a YouTube channel all about her journey to getting healthy. It was an extremely inspirational story. At the end of the presentation, they had a special surprise for everyone too. Shanti was in the audience!

She took questions from attendees and told us a little bit more about her journey and the challenges she had along the way.

Next up was Holly Wyatt, M.D., who spoke about the current understandings of weight loss and weight maintenance. She talked about the various types of diets that people use – Atkins, one, Weight Watchers, Ornish, etc. and how successful they can be. They all seem to have similar results, but when it comes to maintaining the weight loss, it basically comes down to adherence to the diet. There were lots of questions being asked during Holly’s presentation, so she had to skip a bunch of slides and wrap it up so we could get to the Q&A section. Dr. James O. Hill joined Holly and they answered all sorts of great questions, which I’ll talk about in the conference recap.

Elle Potter then took the state for the final 15 minutes of the conference to go through a fun presentation featuring the results of a fitness and health blogging survey she had done. After looking at lots of fun photos and listening to the survey results, it was time to go home.

This was such a fun conference! Much better than the boring internet marketing conferences that I’m used to 😉
